OUR RAW MATERIAL - PLA
Where does PLA come from?
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is the biopolymer of Lactic Acid which is derived from renewable plant resources such as corn, sugarcane, cassava and other crops. It is biodegradable, compostable and therefore able to return to the natural environment. Best of all, it is not plastic and therefore not petroleum-based. Our cutlery is manufactured through a process whereby starch from corn kernels is processed into PLA. The result is a product that acts and performs like traditional plastics but performs better in terms of heat-resistant able to withstand temperatures of up to 212 degrees F.
